MTI introduces new Microtrak II High Speed CCD Laser Displacement Sensor

Albany, NY (DATE:May 30, 2002)– MTI Instruments Inc. has expanded its MicrotrakÔ family of laser-based non-contact measurement systems. The new Microtrak II offers state of the art CMOS CCD technology in a compact, DIN mountable package for precise measurements of displacement, position, vibration and thickness.

Typical applications for the Microtrak II include disk thickness, flatness and warpage; alignment, displacement/position, step height, positioning, profiling and structural dynamics.

Based on MTI ’s proven laser triangulation technology, the system provides a perfect solution for many measurements previously unattainable. It is unaffected by surface texture, color or stray light. The Microtrak II particularly excels in measurements in which the sensor needs to have as much operating standoff and range as possible.  The DC-20 kHz response is ideal for difficult high-speed measurements, especially in production applications.

Key Features of the new Microtrak II include:

  • DIN Mountable Compact Enclosure, Externally Powered by 24 V dc

  • Menu-Driven Controller provides user-friendly method to set bandwidth limits, gain, and units.

  • DC-20 kHz response with selectable low pass filter settings down to 0.1 Hz

  • Backlit LCD Display shows measurement results, setup parameters and control functions.

  • Laser heads can be interchanged without the need to recalibrate

  • RS-485 Digital Output and +/- 4 V dc Analog Output

MTI Instruments is a world leader in high-precision noncontact measurement systems offering fiber-optic, laser and capacitive instruments for demanding applications in the laboratory, manufacturing and quality control.
