ABOUT FCRI

Fluid Control Research Institute (FCRI), Palakkad, Kerala dedicated to design and development of flow products, Flow Measurement and Control techniques, QR Evaluation, Certification / Testing & Calibration of flow products is the first of its kinds in South East Asia. Established by the Government of India (Ministry of Industry) as a UNDP assisted project in 1989 with the active support of UNIDO as the Executing Agency, the institute represents the first serious attempt to provide a frame of reference and standardization to critical aspects of fluid flow measurement and control in industrial processes. Since 1989, the Institute has provided authorized and reliable third party certification with traceability to National / International Standards, assisted industries in testing and calibration of flow products, development of special products and getting ISO 9000 certification. Several high-tech sponsored Research & Development projects work has been carried out for industries and prestigious Govt. organizations.

The institute provides advanced facilities for technological development for the flow product industry and also serves as a National Certifying Authority and Quality / Reliability evaluation laboratory. The institute has been accredited by National Accreditation Board for Testing & Calibration Laboratories (NABL) for Calibration / Testing of flow products and in the field of Mechanical Measurements and is one of the few authorized laboratories for evaluation of fluid flow products. FCRI is authorized by Department of Weights & Measures, Ministry of Civil Supplies, Govt. of India for model approval of flow products for custody transfer in oil sectors. Joint R&D programmes with National and International organizations, sponsored research programmes from Private / Public sector organizations form part of FCRI's main activity. FCRI is engaged in applied research and offers consultancy on the various facets of fluid flow problems, prototype design and development technology.

The Institute is also conducting Training Programs / Courses / Conferences & National Seminars as one of its main objectives to train technical personnel involved in area of fluid flow measurement & control, related instrumentation, calibration standards, Custody Transfer, Cavitation, Metro - Urban Water Distribution Systems, Metrology, Pressure & Temperature Measurement, Acoustic & Structural considerations in flow products. So far FCRI has conducted more than 60 National Seminars / Courses & Training Programs and more than 2000 participants have benefited from these programs.

Apart from National Training Programmes, FCRI has been conducting International Training Programmes under the aegis of Indian Technical & Economic Co-operation Scheme (ITEC) of the Ministry of External Affairs and Colombo Plan of the Ministry of Finance, Govt. of India. 18 training programmes have been conducted so far and around 250 foreign nationals from countries viz., Kenya, Cuba, Nigeria, Sudan, Botswana, Tanzania, Zambia, Erithria, Ethiopia, Ghana, Guyana, Ivory Coast, Armenia, Syria, Oman, Mauritius, Kuwait, Bhutan, Bangladesh, Cambodia, Iraq, Jordan, Kazakhistan, Romania, Kyrgystan, Uzbekistan, Indonesia, Srilanka, Malaysia, Myanmar, Thailand, Vietnam etc. have been benefited from these programmes. Indian Participants can also attend this training programme.

In addition to these courses, FCRI also conducts specialized tailor-made training programmes for executives / technicians in specific areas for interested organizations. Such programmes have been conducted for industries like GAIL Baroda, GAIL Vijaipur, ONGC, IPCL Nagothane, TNPCB, Enron etc. The organizations interested in hands-on experience training programmes for field operators, technicians can approach FCRI.
