Responsibility
Of Buyer (Industrial energy
consumers)
|
|
Improving
Awareness
Industries
must put in efforts to increase their awareness of opportunities for energy conservation in their
specific Industries categories
|
|
Permanent In-house
Energy Auditor
Industries
must look within, not without. External
Energy auditors and consultants cannot alone contribute on a continuous
and committed basis to energy conservation programs.
This is best done be the industry itself by installing the
equivalent of a financial accounting system whose very presence ensures
that inefficiency, wastage or inadequacy will be detected and therefore be
targeted for control.
|
|
Learning through
sharing
Indian
industries, especially in intensely competitive areas are very
tight-lipped about their achievements in energy savings.
Even large corporate groups only encourage intra group sharing than
with other units in the same industry outside.
A
great pity, as bench - marking and sharing experiences can actually help learning
and growing as is the experience of global companies.

|
Recognize that
there is no free lunch
If
supplies are offering sometimes free (e.g. buy the instrument, get the
software free) watch out for the hidden costs that show up only later.
If the supplier has invested in quality of design, and manufacture,
offers new technology and techniques and supports you technically and
after-sale, don’t expect it free! Instead expect good value for money.
|
|
Ask to be
educated
The
supplier knows his product best. Find
out about his reliability, track record, certification
of quality, support and why it scores over other products. Glossy
promotions and literature do not necessarily guarantee product quality and
support.
